City Legal Winners at Language Industry Awards

Posted on 09 Oct 2017

City Legal Translations and its sister company Intonation had a night of great success at the 2017 Association of Translation Companies' UK Language Industry Summit Awards.

The awards, designed to recognise success in the language services sector, saw City Legal taking home two trophies as runners-up in the "Project Management Team of the Year" award and City Legal Translation Manager Tatiana Poliakova took home the prestigious "Project Manager of the Year" title.

Tatiana, a qualified translator and interpreter with over 7 years experience at City Legal, was recognised not only for her work overseeing the company's project management team but also for her contribution to the language industry itself. As City Legal's Commercial Director, Dan Peachey, explains "Tatiana brings a wealth of experience to City Legal but she also spends a lot of time working on projects outside the company. She has been asked to mentor students from Portsmouth University, been a guest speaker at language industry events, and even undertaken translation work for charity free of charge into her native Slovak. This award is a fantastic achievement, particularly as it is a mark of recognition from her industry peers."

Tatiana, pictured above with Roy Allkin, ATC Chairman, said: "My win was a total shock! I was just delighted to be nominated. The competition was so strong and it's wonderful to know my work is appreciated. The team at City Legal works really hard to maintain a high level of service and quality and so it was great that the team was recognised in the team award too."

Dan added, "The ATC awards offer the opportunity to reward the real heroes of the language industry. I'm so proud of City Legal's achievements this year and it's great to say we're an award-winning company- especially twice over!"

The judging panel for this year's awards was made up of Sarah Griffin-Mason, Chair of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting and Senior Lecturer in Translation Studies at Portsmouth University, Liz Pryke, Secretary of the ATC, Laura Brandon, Executive Director of the Globalization and Localization Association and Rudy Tirry, President of the European Union of Associations of Translation Companies.

Liz Pryke said: "The awards and gala dinner were a celebration of success in the language sector. There is so much great talent in our industry and awards such as these recognise the real commitment to excellence. We congratulate Tatiana and City Legal Translations on their achievements and we're confident all the winners will continue to provide outstanding services to ensure the language sector carries on growing."
